Bulgaria: Bulgaria's Special Surveillance Devices Office Head Elected

Bulgaria's parliament voted to elect Boyko Rashkov for head of the office for monitoring the use of special surveillance devices.

Rashkov, who served as chief of the national intelligence service during the Socialist cabinet of Zhan Videnov, notorious for the banking crisis it brought to the country, was elected with the votes of 112 MPs.

Rashkov is a former member of the Supreme Judicial Council, he has also served as justice deputy minister.

His nomination for the SSD office was tabled by the Bulgarian Socialist Party.
