Former Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov has declared that he would remain a member of the center-right GERB party until the end of his life.

The pledge comes amid allegations that Tstvetanov, the party’s deputy leader, considenrs forming a new political outfit.

The allegations were triggered by a statement made by former Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov, who said that the two GERB MPs who surprisingly left the party’s parliamentary group earlier in December have close ties with Tsvetanov.

Last week, GERB leader and former Prime Minister named Tsetska Tsacheva as the deputy chair of the party’s parliamentary group, replacing Tsvetanov. The move was interpreted as Borisov pushing to the backdrop Tsvetanov, who is facing trial on 3 counts.

“I am fully committed to GERB, and I will remain in GERB until the end of my life,” the former Interior Minister told reporters on Wednesday, as cited by BGNES.
