A wine museum will open doors in Bulgaria’s southwestern town of Melnik, a place famous for its red wines.

The museum will open this Saturday, in the underground cellar of one of the local hotels, revealed Standartnews. Visitors will be able to follow through the whole history of winemaking in one of Bulgaria’s most fruitful regions. Over 400 bottles of wine are on display.

A separate tasting hall will welcome guests who want to try some of the local sorts.

The Deputy Minister of Economy Branimir Botev and the head of the Bulgarian Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners Blagoy Ragin will participate in the opening ceremony.

Hoteliers from nearby Sandanski are also expecting an increase in tourism from the opening of the museum.
