The rotational chairmanship of the Black Sea Econonomic Cooperation was officially transfered from Armenia to Bulgaria at a ceremony in Yerevan.

Thursday BSEC foreign affairs ministers met in Yerevan to discuss what has been achieved in past months, and the work ahead.

Bulgaria will preside the regional cooperation organization in the period January 1 - June 30, 2014.

"In the coming six months Bulgaria will make all efforts for further speeding up of multilateral economic cooperation in the Black Sea region," stated Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin.

"For its more than 20 years of existence, BSEC has proved its significant importance for fostering prosperity and stability in the region," added he.

"The globalized world creates new challenges, but I firmly believe that in spite of the existing differences among its member states, BSEC has the potential to increase its efficiency," said Vigenin.

During the meeting in Yerevan, the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs held bilateral meeting with Armenian counterpart Eduard Nalbandyan and Turkey's top diplomat Ahmet Davutoglu.
