The world marks the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9.

The day is marked since 2004, symbolizing the date on which the United Nations Convention Against Corruption was signed, in Mexico in 2003.

On this day, the UN tries to promote the Convention and to raise awareness through various campaigns, demonstrating how corruption is destructive to the economy and development.

In a recent Corruption Perceptions Index of Transparency International, Bulgaria ranks as the second most corrupt country in the EU, after Greece.

Denmark and New Zealand rank as the least corrupt countries in the world.
