So far, countries and international organizations have raised EUR 180 M according to Euronews, much less than what the island nation will need for recovering.

In one of the hardest hit areas, the eastern Samar province, communities are still awaiting to receive aid.

The typhoon, which hit the Philippines earlier this month with wind speeds of over 300 km/h, has left around 4 000 people dead and more than 1 000 missing.

As many as 2 million people have been directly affected, according to the World Food Program.
