Students from the university in Bulgaria’s Danube town of Ruse have come up with a declaration supporting the ongoing student protests across the country.

The students have declared their will to “put an end to the systematic violation of constitutional order in the country.”

“No one of us is indifferent to what kind of state we are living in,” the declaration says, demanding the dissolution of Parliament and calling for new elections.

The students thus expressed their support for their colleagues who have blocked access to Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" since last week.

On Monday and Tuesday, several other universities in Sofia, and across the country, initiated their own occupations in support of the movement.

The protests were triggered by a number of controversial appointments, most notably that of shady media magnate Delyan Peevski as head of the powerful State Agency for National Security. The appointment was revoked in June, but nationwide rallies have continued ever since, demanding the government’s resignation over its alleged ties with oligarchs.
