Bulgarian Ombudsman Konstantin Penchev would accept to be a moderator of a meeting between Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski and protesting college students.

Penchev made the statement Monday morning before Nova TV. It came in the aftermath of Oresharski saying Sunday in an interview with the Bulgaria National Radio that he was willing to meet with the students who have occupied Sofia University.

They students, in turn, listed their conditions for such meeting: to be held in the University's main building, to be broadcast live, and to be moderated by the Ombudsman.

Penchev further said the occupation of Sofia University and the counter-protests were recycling the same old subject.

"When someone rallies on any occasion, this inconveniences other people," he added.

According to him, since February, when Bulgarians began staging mass protests, some puppeteers keep insinuating the Bulgarian people are a crowd of deadbeats.

"At the same time everyone wants to have a civil society, but then we tell people that others are paid to protest," said Penchev.

The Ombudsman added that Bulgarians are now witnessing precisely the formation of civil society.
