A powerful bomb wad deactivated in Republic of Dagestan on Tuesday, reports Russia's National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC).

Local residents spotted a suspicious bucket nearby Makhachkala Highway and alerted security forces, informs Voice of Russia.

A homemade bomb containing an explosive the equivalent of 12 kilograms of TNT was disabled by NAC forces.

The bomb used to blow up the bus in Volgograd on Monday was strapped to the body of the suicide bomber, Naida Asiyalova, a 30-year-old woman from Dagestan, Russian authorities have revealed.

Unconfirmed reports say that Asiyalova's husband, Dmitry Sokolov, was a militant leader in the Mahachkala gang.
