Richard Harris, the classically trained actor whose roles ranged from King Arthur in "Camelot" to Headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies, has died. He was 72. Harris died Friday at a London hospital, his family reported. "With great sadness, Damian, Jarid and Jamie Harris announced the death of their beloved father. He died peacefully at University College Hospital," the family said in a statement. Harris had been receiving treatment for Hodgkin's disease. Movie fans remember Harris for a host of roles: a rugby player in "This Sporting Life" (1963), Cain in "The Bible" (1966), King Arthur in "Camelot" (1967), the title role in "A Man Called Horse" (1970) and Marcus Aurelius in "Gladiator" (2000). But Harris was best known to modern audiences for his portrayal of Dumbledore, the kindly and wily head of Hogwarts School in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (2001) and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," the latter due out November 15.
