Thursday’s no-confidence vote against Bulgaria’s government appears doomed to fail, as the ultranationalist Ataka party has declared it would not back the opposition.
Ataka’s lawmakers missed the first no-confidence vote against the embattled Socialist-led cabinet, as they were on a working trip to Brussels at the end of September.
But Ataka leader Volen Siderov has informed reporters on that his party’s MPs would take part in the vote this time.
“We do not support this government, we are a corrective to it,” Siderov claimed Wednesday, as cited by Darik radio.
The ultranationalist leader stated that the opposition center-right GERB and the two ruling parties are secretly working in collaboration, as they recently refused to close the country’s borders for Siderov describes as “the so-called refugees.”
The new no-confidence motion targets the cabinet's investment and regional policies. According to Members of the Parliament from GERB, the failure in regional policies has led to the deepening of differences in different regions of the country and has been caused by poor absorption of EU funds
