The Bulgarian government is drafting an amendment on the Road Traffic Law, which would forbid beginner drivers to take highways.

Deputies of the ruling Socialist party have proposed that beginners with up to 3 years of experience should not be allowed to drive on highways, where the speed limit is 140 km/h. Instead, they would have to take the detours, where the maximum is 90 km/h, writes Standartnews.

The draft amendment will be discussed on October 20, together with a proposal for new drivers of up to 6 months to be forbidden from driving after 10 PM.

New, stricter sanctions for drunk driving and lack or winter tires are also on the agenda.
