The legendary British rock band Alan Parsons Live Project will perform in Bulgaria on Saturday, September 28.

The concert will be held in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture, NDK, in downtown Sofia.

Bulgarian fans will have the first ever opportunity to hear live the unique vocals of Alan Parsons and PJ Olsson.

"I feel like Michael Jackson. I have never been greeted by so many photographers and cameramen. Thank you," said the musician on the day before the first concert of his band in Sofia, reported BGNES.

The Alan Parsons Project will perform some of their greatest hits like "Eye in the Sky," "Time," "Games People Play."

The musician stated that this was going to be a show that he himself was eagerly anticipating.

On Friday, Parsons held a press conference and left his hand imprints in the "NDK Hall of Fame" alongside those of actor and director Antonio Banderas, violist Yuri Bashmet, composer Gia Kancheli and conductor Emil Tabakov.

"How did you get to know my music?" he asked the journalists, referring to the fact that during the Communist regime Bulgaria was in almost complete isolation of western music.

Parsons, who is a producer and sound engineer of The Beatles and Pink Floyd, said he hoped that before the Friday concert, he could walk around and see at least a small part of the Bulgarian capital.

A special "Parsons' Night" is being held Friday evening at the RockIt night club in Sofia, where he will meet with fans and sign autographs.

The arrival of the British music producer, engineer, and songwriter in the country marks the 40th anniversary of the release of one of the best albums in music history - the legendary "The Dark Side of the Moon" of Pink Floyd. Parsons is the co-producer and sound visionary of the album which changed history of popular music and of sound recording. His work on "The Dark Side of the Moon" brought him his first "Grammy" nomination.

The band focuses on progressive rock, soft rock, pop rock and art rock. It was founded in 1975 by Parsons and Eric Woolfson.

Except for one occasion, the Project never played live during its original incarnation. This was because Woolfson and Parsons saw themselves mainly in the roles of writing and production, and also because of the technical difficulties of reproducing on stage the complex instrumentation used in the studio.

The one occasion where the band was introduced as "The Alan Parsons Project" in a live performance was at Night of the Proms 1990 (at the time of the group's break-up).

Since 1994, a new version of the band has toured, with Parsons performing live acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals, with various line-ups. This latest incarnation is called the Alan Parsons Live Project, the name distinct from "The Alan Parsons Project," due to Parsons' break-up with Woolfson.

Woolfson, who died in 2009, also continued to compose and perform his own music.

The concert in Sofia is organized by "Joker Media." Tickets have been available through Eventim since May 10. Prices range between BGN 50 and BGN 150.
