Bulgaria's Parliament is not operative and should be dissolved, with new elections called, stated GERB party leader and former Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov.

Friday's parliamentary sitting, at which MPs were to go for a no-confidence vote against cabinet, fell through due to insufficient quorum.

It was GERB MPs, who tabled the no-confidence vote, that decided not to register for sittings in the last three days.

"It was again shown that his parliament must be dissolved and new elections held," commented Borisov after the failed Friday sitting.

"We have nothing to debate with those people. They are illegitimate," added he.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party and the liberal Movement for Rights and Freedoms, who elected PM Plamen Oresharski's cabinet, have together exactly half of Bulgaria's 240 MPs.

With 97 MPs, GERB's group is the largest, but the party could not elect a cabinet, finding itself in isolation after May 12 early elections.

The fourth group in Bulgaria's current parliament, that of nationalists Ataka, was absent from work this week.

Among the declared motives for GERB's non-registration policy was to show the alleged dependence of the other two parties on Ataka for proper support of cabinet and work of parliament.
