The decision of Bulgarian former ruling party GERB MPs not to register for a no-confidence vote it tabled shows political impotence, said Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev.

Friday the voting was defered after there was no sufficient quorum in plenary.

"With their behavior, GERB showed their worthlessness," commented socialist leader Stanishev soon after the sitting was called off.

"The political powerlessness of GERB as opposition is now clear," added he.

Stanishev recalled that with their Friday move, the former ruling party sabotaged not only the no-confidence vote they tabled, but also a motion to depose Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov.

According to the socialist leader, GERB also attempted to thwart the imminent adoption of legislation that they saw as not beneficial for their narrow interests.

However Stanishev expressed his trust that parliament will resume normal work in the coming week.
