The Bulgarian Parliament is to hold a no-confidence vote for cabinet Friday morning, following heavy controversies during the debates in the previous days.

The vote will be held at 11 am local time, with point one on the agenda being opposition GERB party's request for dismissal of Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov.

Mikov was taken to task by the former ruling party because of opening the house's sitting Thursday, after only a manual count of MPs present.

After tabling the no-confidence vote, which formally relates to cabinet's investment policy, GERB chose the eccentric move not to register for debates on Wednesday and Thursday.

The initial debate, scheduled Wednesday, fell through, as nationalists Ataka were also absent from plenary, allegedly due to a trip to Brussels.

The ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party and Movement for Rights and Freedoms have together precisely 120 of Bulgaria's 240 MPs.

The cabinet of PM Plamen Oresharski, elected by Parliament end of May following snap elections, has been facing sharp criticism and lasting street protests after a number of questionable appointments.
