Turkey Moves to Ban Poll-topping AKP

A Turkish judge has ordered police to bring the head of the front running AKP party to court over charges of illegal earnings. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the charismatic former mayor of Istanbul, could face up to five years in prison over the allegations, but has so far failed to appear at two previous hearings. The country's chief prosecutor has also asked the constitutional court to outlaw Erdogan's AKP for alleged breaches of laws governing how political parties are run.
