Around 200 Bulgarian and Syrian nationals staged a protest against the aggression and terror against Syria in front of the US Embassy in Sofia Wednesday evening.

The protesters carried Syrian and Bulgarian flags and posters in Bulgarian and English calling for peace in Syria and non-involvement in any military operations, according to inews.bg.

Some of the demonstrators chanted "Killers!"

One poster expressed the support of the Bulgarian people for a sovereign Syria.

The rally was attended by three MPs of nationalist party Ataka – Magdalena Tasheva, Dimitar Avramov, and Galen Monev.

On August 30, the nationalist party submitted to Parliament a draft decision on Bulgaria's full neutrality on the Syrian conflict.

On Wednesday, Ataka leader Volen Siderov insisted in Parliament that the decision on Syria had to be adopted as soon as possible because the situation required urgent measures.

Ataka member Magdalena Tasheva claimed Wednesday that people all over the world were staging protests against the latest oil-driven military adventure of the US.

She insisted that the evidence of a chemical attack by the government forces had been fabricated, suggesting that the attack, as long as there had been any, had been organized by the opposition, not by the Assad regime.

Ataka members also argued that Bulgaria was not to receive refugees because they were not real Syrian nationals but Islamists and terrorists.
