Russia has stayed in front of Saudi Arabia, topping the list of countries in the world producing the largest quantities of oil.
In July, Russia increased its production by 1% from a year earlier to 10.43 million barrels a day, reports Bloomberg.
This is near the country's record, set in 1987, during the Soviet era - 11.48 million barrels per day.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has implemented a number of measures to stimulate fuel production, including tax rebates for the development of less accessible deposits of oil.
Bloomberg reports that natural gas production also rose, increasing with 3.9% in July compared to a year earlier to 1.5 B cubic meters a day.
