Bulgarian lawmakers decided to hold several committee sittings on Thursday in the Parliament’s office house instead of its main building.

The decision has been apparently prompted by the blockade of Parliament staged by anti-government protesters on Tuesday.

Due to insufficient space in the main building, some administrative offices of the National Assembly (Parliament) are now housed by the office house, the former headquarters of the Bulgarian Communist Party. The former Communist Party House is part of Sofia’s famous architecture ensemble known as the Largo. The building is believed to have a number of secret exits.

It is at the Largo that dozens of thousands of anti-corruption protests have gathered to demand the resignation of the Socialist-led government each evening since June 14.
Reporters say that some protesters have once again started gathering at the Largo, blocking traffic on the Dondukov Blvd.

Key Bulgarian Socialist Party MP Maya Manolova was booed by demonstrators as she left the building, according to the Bulgarian National Radio. A taxi reportedly refused to take her, but she eventually escaped in a Parliament vehicle.
