Bulgaria's center-right party GERB will return to Parliament due to Monday's decision of the government on the budget revision, according to a media statement of the formation.

The government held an extraordinary sitting on Monday to adopt the revision of Budget 2013.

Former Prime Minister and GERB leader Borisov, as cited by the BGNES news agency, argued that the discussion on the budget was much more important than Election Code amendments.

Borisov specified that GERB MPs would return to Parliament for the vote on the budget revision to try to dissuade their colleagues from approving a loan of up to BGN 1 B and to win them over in favor of a BGN 150 M package of measures earmarked for the most vulnerable social groups.

"A part of Bulgarians will get some money. The other part of the population, however, the ones who are attending the protests, must know that they will have to pay back another BGN 1.2 B in spent money because they will not set the economy or the industrial production in motion; they will be short lived and will only have a temporary impact," he stated.

Borisov reiterated GERB's demands for instant snap elections.

"This illegitimate Parliament and the absolutely unprofessional and non-expert government will by all means bring about a repeat of the events during the term in office of the Jean Videnov government," he declared.

Borisov noted that Prime Minister Oresharski had proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he was no financial or economic expert.

He emphasized that in three years' time, the next government would have to prepare BGN 1 B plus another BGN 200 M in interest, adding that the step was impossible, given the other forthcoming maturity dates.

"Bulgarians must be angry with themselves for allowing this to happen. I am saying this to have a clear conscience that I gave a warning," Borisov said, adding that he had met with trade union leaders Plamen Dimitrov and Konstantin Trenchev, who had expressed grave concern over the situation.

"We left Parliament to show empathy toward the tens of thousands of people in the streets who do not want this government, and now we will return due to the budget. This is how citizens will be able to hear out our financial experts once again," the GERB leader stated.

After the inaugural sitting of Bulgaria's 42nd National Assembly on May 21, Boyko Borisov, former Prime Minister and leader of GERB, declared that the party would boycott parliament sittings by non-attendance and refusal to register for voting until the Parliament was ready to discuss Election Code amendments and new early elections were scheduled.
