Protest against ETA Violence in Spain

"Leave us alone". That was the message from tens of thousands of Spaniards, determined to make a stand against ETA violence and intimidation used against non-nationalists in the region. The northern city of San Sebastian was the venue for the march. It is estimated up to 150,000 took part, including senior politicians from Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar's government. This was a protest against the pressure put on those who do not support Basque separatism. Some marchers have likened the discrimination they face to fascism. The demonstration was organised by a range of anti-ETA and non-nationalist groups.
