Bulgaria: 100,000 Bulgarians Sign Petition Supporting Embattled PM BGNES

A petition in support of Bulgaria's PM Plamen Oresharski has gathered some 100,000 signatures, announced organizers Saturday.

The Oresharski cabinet was elected by Parliamen May 29 and days after provoked widespread ire with a string of controversial appointments.

Nightly 10,000-strong rallies asking for the PM's resignation havwe been blocking traffic in the center of capital Sofia for 19 days now.

At the same time, significantly smaller and less frequent rallies have convened in support of Oresharski.

Those include supporters of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, as well as people who consider new snap elections soon after the May 12 vote to be of little benefit for Bulgaria.
