Bulgaria’s center-right GERB party, whose government was in power between 2009 and 2013, will not fall apart, GERB lawmaker Plamen Nunev has declared.

In a statement, Nunev has reminded that GERB has a total 70 000 members nationwide – while just 5 to 10 people have left the party over the recent days.

Nunev has reminded that people are allowed to have different opinions within a democratic political party.

The MP’s statement follows the announcement made Sunday by several senior GERB officials, who said they were taking steps to terminate their party membership and to establish a new political project.

On Monday, GERB leader and former PM Boyko Borisov wished luck to the “renegade” officials and also declared that the party would not fall apart.
