Former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov (2009-2013) has declared that his center-right GERB party would never fall apart.
“In order for GERB to fall apart, I have to fall apart. Fortunately for me – and unfortunately for my enemies – I am still intact, so there is no way GERB can fall apart,” Borisov told the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) on Monday.
“As long as I am alive, I will determine GERB’s directions, and what should be done,” he said.
The former PM’s comment followed the announcement made Sunday by several senior GERB officials, who said they were taking steps to terminate their party membership and to establish a new political project.
In his interview for BNR, Borisov once again wished luck to the former GERB members.
The center-right leader also revealed that his party would not seek a no-confidence vote against the Socialist-led government of PM Plamen Oresharski. He explained that such a move would be “pointless.”
Borisov reiterated that early elections would be the only way out of the political crisis in the country.
