Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
Boyko Borisov, former Bulgarian Prime Minister and leader of center-right party GERB, has received an expression of congratulations and support from former European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering.
"You personally and political party GERB have my full support," Hans-Gert Poettering was quoted as saying by the press office of GERB during a working meeting with Borisov in Berlin on Monday.
The former EP President and current Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation congratulated Borisov on the victory of center-right party Citizens fort European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) at the snap elections on May 12.
During his working visit to Berlin, Borisov also met with Thomas Silberhorn, Spokesperson on European and foreign affairs for the CSU group in the German Bundestag, and European Affairs Spokesperson of CDU Michael Stuebgen.
Borisov informed his interlocutors about the political crisis in Bulgaria and the "unprecedented scandals of the new Bulgarian government of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms party, DPS, and nationalist party Ataka."
