A small group of supporters of the government of Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski, elected on the mandate of the Socialist Party, have stirred tensions at the protest rally held Saturday near the National Palace of Culture, NDK, in downtown Sofia.

The "Occupy NDK" rally parallels the sitting of the Party of European Socialists, PES.

The entire PES leadership is in Sofia Saturday, at a time their Bulgarian leader, Sergey Stanishev, is facing growing discontent from his own country people and the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, which he leads as well.

Bulgarian citizens are staging mass protest rallies for the 8th day in a row. They were sparked by the outrageous decision of the government and the Parliament to appoint controversial media mogul and lawmaker Delyan Peevski as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) with Stanishev seen as one of the masterminds behind the plan.

The demonstrators demand the resignation of the Cabinet Oresharski.

The small group holding banners reading "Borisov Out," "GERB Out," "Let's Support the Cabinet Oresharski," and "Oresharski Government = Prosperity of the State," immediately attracted the attention of the "Occupy NDK" activists, causing their stormy reaction.

Angry words were exchanged between the two groups and only the quick actions of the police prevented further escalation of the conflict. Riot policemen were able to push aside and isolate Oresharski's supporters.

The current situation is reported as calm.

The number of demonstrators near NDK is growing quickly and over 1 000 are already there. They are once again holding banners and national flags, chanting "Mafia," "Resignation," and "Red Trash."

Many young people, some with small children, are attending the rally.
