Key Bulgarian Socialist Party lawmaker Georgi Kadiev has demanded the resignation of BSP leader Sergey Stanishev over the election of controversial businessman Delyan Peevski as the country’s national security head.

Kadiev described the election of Peevski as a “huge blunder” that has to be corrected.
“940 000 people voted for us. They voted for putting an end to behind the scene deals.

When you lie to these people, you have to win back their trust. This is the first step,” the MP told Nova TV on Sunday.

Kadiev said he would not support the removal of the Socialist-led government of PM Plamen Oresharski.

Bulgaria’s Socialist party members have launched a sign-up in a bid to topple Stanishev following the surprise appointment of Peevski.

Members of the Socialist party, who claim the nomination and election of the shady media tycoon discredit gravely their formation and may even spell its death.

Even though Oresharski declared Saturday he would reverse its appointment of Delyan Peevski as head of state security, nationwide protests against the appointment will continue on Sunday.
