The former rulers from GERB are hysterical as they see they have no future, according to Lyutvi Mestan, leader of Bulgaria's liberal ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS).
Mestan spoke in the Parliament Friday after the MPs from the formerly ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, (GERB), voiced outrage from the election of a controversial colleague for national security chief.
The Parliament voted Friday to approve Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski's nomination to have Delyan Peevski, Member of the Parliament from DPS to lead the country's National Security Agency, DANS.
Peevski was elected swiftly with the vote of MPs from his own party and the left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, and hastily took the oath of office.
In the aftermath, from the parliamentary tribune, Mestan advised GERB to not be afraid of the new rule of the country and warned them to rather be afraid of the rule of law.
He stressed that as DPS leader, he was personally making the commitment that control over DANS and its Director will be both parliamentary and civil.
"I declare today that we should judge DANS and its Head by their actions. No one has the right to be revanchist, but GERB know well what they have been involved into. They have no right to speak about good image, reputation, and media monopoly. The media monopoly is not that dangerous when it serves GERB and very dangerous when it does not serve them. The dividing line today is the one between the rulers and crime and corruption," Mestan stated, adding GERB's rule was unjust, and a generator of crime and corruption.
"They are boycotting the Parliament now, because they now their crimes will be exposed,' the DPS leader concluded.
