Boyko Borisov, former Prime Minister and current leader of center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, has informed that he has launched a number of libel lawsuits, with plans to use the proceeds for charity.

"Yesterday I launched a number of lawsuits against Siderov, Lakov and I do not remember who else. They are rich people, I will get a lot of money from them - I am seeking BGN 50 000 from each- and when I get the money, I will put it in bags and take it to some orphanage or care home, I have not decided yet," Borisov said Wednesday in the the parliamentary lobby, as cited by the BGNES news agency.

According to reports of Sega daily, Borisov cannot sue MPs for libel, because the immunity of members of parliament from prosecution cannot be lifted for private lawsuits.

Borisov's actions came in response to a Tuesday statement of Volen Siderov, leader of nationalist party Ataka, that Mihail Mihov, owner of the Ledenika brewery and former head of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation, had been murdered in an attempt to cover up Borisov's criminal activities.

Borisov went on to reject allegations that he had been using Flight Crew 28 as his personal taxi service, adding that he had never used the military aviation, only military transport helicopters "which are too many and superfluous, being suitable for transportation purposes only."

Regarding the potential restart of the Belene NPP project, he commented that the Bulgarian Socialist Party had lied that they would immediately start building the N-plant.

He said that the lies of the socialists had a financial expression, BGN 13 M, the cost of the referendum on the Belene NPP, organized at the initiative of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).

"I told you then that Stanishev would not sign the project, they were lying to boost their image and to win over and at the same time mislead their supporters," Borisov stated, adding that it had been clear back then that there was no money to implement the project.

He voiced hopes that the prosecuting authority would have enough time to investigate the Belene Nuclear Power Plant project, adding that the head of the Financial Supervision Commission had informed him about a fraud scheme of monstrous proportions.
