President Rosen Plevneliev has issued a decree proposing to Parliament to elect socialist candidate Plamen Oresharski Prime Minister of Bulgaria's next government.
Plevneliev, as cited by the BGNES news agency, announced Tuesday morning that the Bulgarian Socialist Party had successfully completed the mandate to form a cabinet.
Plevneliev's statement came after Oresharski presented the composition and the structure of the proposed government to him.
Emphasizing Oresharski's strive to achieve broad consensus with the business sector and civic organizations, Bulgaria's head of state noted that he had no constitutional obligation to evaluate the proposed government panel, adding that the Parliament would provide the estimate.
Plevneliev suggested that the government was yet to receive "the toughest, the most sincere, and the most important evaluation" by Bulgarian citizens.
He stressed the need to ensure continuity and build upon prior achievements while focusing on problem areas.
Plevneliev argued that it was not an easy job for a politician to work amid low public trust, adding that he had great respect for Oresharski's decision to accept the PM nomination at such a difficult period.
