Bulgaria's Movement for Rights and Freedoms will support the candidacy of socialist Mihail Mikov for speaker of Bulgaria's new parliament, set to convene Tuesday.
Monday the Bulgarian Socialist Party officially nominated the former Minister of Interior (2008-9) for chair of the legislative.
At the first sitting of the Movement's parliamentary group Monday, the MPs decided to support the socialists' bid.
They also voted to table the candidacy of MRF vice-chair Hristo Biserov for deputy speaker of the parliament.
Former ruling GERB party is expected to nominate former speaker Tsetska Tsacheva to re-assume the position, but as things stand, she is unlikely to get the support of other parliamentary parties.
Together the Socialists and the Movement have exactly half, 120, of Bulgaria's 240 MPs, following the May 12 general elections.
GERB came out first with a result that gave them 97 MPs, but is finding itself strongly isolated from other parties.
The remaining 23 MP seats have gone for nationalist party Ataka.
