Petar Moskov announced Monday he was resigning as a member of the national governing council of right-wing party Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) after preliminary results of the May 12 elections showed that the party would most likely fail to enter the 42nd National Assembly.

"I will continue working for the implementation of the ideas I proposed during the election campaign. I know that better times will come. I believe that we will achieve this through reason and we will welcome these better days together," he said in a Facebook status update.

Moskov also apologized to the people who had trusted him for failing to live up to their expectations.

"This is my direct political responsibility," Moskov stated.

Earlier on Monday, Radan Kanev made clear he would file his resignation as Deputy Chair of the right-wing party.

"I am resigning," Kanev announced in a status update on Facebook.

"It is now 4 am on May 13, the game is over, DSB fails to enter Parliament. I would like to thank all of the people who helped me with all my heart. You deserve more, I am sorry if I let you down," Kanev stated.

According to preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission, DSB gets 3.07% of the votes at the May 12 general elections, meaning that the right-wing party fails to pass the 4% parliamentary threshold and will not enter Bulgaria's 42nd National Assembly.
