Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
The far-right nationalist Ataka (Attack) party will not support the centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, says Ataka leader Volen Siderov.
Siderov spoke on TV Sunday evening after the closing of voting polls in Bulgaria's early general elections.
He said a scenario where Ataka and GERB will form a coalition was "impossible," because GERB have betrayed him and his formation and led pro-colonization policies during their term in office.
When asked if he would then support the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, Siderov called on journalists to stop asking if he would support political parties as he was going to support particular policies.
"If someone has cheated you, harmed you, and piled a number of treacheries on Ataka's parliamentary group, these people cannot have our support," he explained, adding until now he has only heard from GERB promises they will move ahead with the colonization of the country.
When asked about his opinion on a "program Cabinet," the nationalist leader replied: "Elections until the end would be better!"
He warned that if the status quo is not changed, people in Bulgaria will take to the streets again.
"Ataka has conditions in order to support someone – not parties, but policies, as I said. For example – revoking the license of the Czech-owned power utility CEZ and increasing the income of people would secure our support. If it wasn't for the renegades GERB stole from us, we would have been now the third strongest party in Bulgaria and the ethnic Turkish formation would have been history. I thank all those who know what nationalism means for Bulgaria," Siderov stressed.
Four Bulgarian parties will certainly make their way to Bulgaria's 42nd General Assembly, according to exit polls.
They are GERB, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, and Ataka.
