The forgery of 350 000 ballots is an unprecedented crime against democracy, according to the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP.
The statement was made at an emergency briefing of the party by its leader, Sergey Stanishev, after breaking news that the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office is probing the case of some 350 000 suspected to be illegal ballots seized from a printing house in the western town of Kostinbrod.
Stanishev declared the perpetrator must be found and arrested immediately.
He stressed that it was very likely the ballots were supposed to be brought in trash bags to voting polls on Election Day.
Stanishev called on all voters to come out on Sunday, May 12, and cast a ballot as it would be the best protection against vote buying and manipulations.
He praised the prosecutor's office for showing for the first time ever in modern Bulgarian history the will to defend democracy as the foundation of the State.
