Ivan Kostov, leader of the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, has said that the right-wing party will back a government offering efficient anti-crisis measures.
In a Tuesday interview for the morning broadcast of bTV, Kostov claimed that Bulgaria had already had such a cabinet and that the goal was absolutely achievable.
"National consensus has the highest potential for taking the country out of the crisis," the leader of the right-wing formation stated.
Asked to comment on the possibility of the May 12 early parliamentary elections resulting in new elections in the fall, Kostov said that there was a worse prospect, namely years of political instability.
"We shall back a government which has competence and decisiveness and is capable of bringing this country out of the crisis," the rightist leader declared.
"The business sector is now being subject to extortion, racketeering, and abuse by the Interior Ministry, by illegal imports, by the fact that entire sectors have been devastated" he pointed out.
"In order for the country to rise above the crisis, strategically speaking, Bulgaria must not build the Belene NPP but the Sofia-Vidin-Danube Bridge 2 road, for instance, as it is a project of great strategic importance," Kostov reasoned.
He went on to emphasize the importance of streamlining water management and the implementation of the Varna West Port project.
"If the people make an informed choice on May 12, they will help the country emerge from the crisis, while if they remain indifferent and apathetic, the result will be completely different" Kostov added.
Asked if DSB would back a new government of center-right party GERB, the leader of the right-wing party said that it was most important "what the purpose behind forming a government will be, as well as the purpose behind going to Parliament."
