A consortium of Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and France's Areva has won the deal to build a nuclear power plant on Turkey's Black Sea coast, according to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan, as cited by The Nikkey newspaper and Bulgaria's Focus news agency, made clear Tuesday that the agreement on the N-plant project would be signed Friday during a visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Turkey.

Erdogan explained that the project involved the construction of four reactors worth USD 20.5 B at Sinop on the Black Sea coast.

He was also quoted as saying that Turkey wanted to have as many reactors as possible in operation by 2023.
