Former Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, had never been hiding he had been spying on many, including from his own GERB party, and even bragged about it.

The claim was made by Emil Dimitrov, former controversial Member of the Parliament from the centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, speaking in an interview for the Bulgarian Pressa (Press) daily.

Dimitrov says revelations made by former GERB Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naydenov, about mass spying on senior politicians, members of the GERB Cabinet, the president and ever on former Prime Minister and GERB leader, Boyko Borisov, came as no surprise at all for him.

"I knew this all along. Tsvetanov has told us at party gatherings he was spying on everyone. For me Borisov keeping Tsvetanov in politics, particularly in the light of the upcoming May 12 snap general elections, is like trying to swim across of the English Channel with a huge rock around your neck," the former MP stresses.

He explains he has parted with Borisov as friends after telling him he was stepping down from politics, but points out he was not at all fond of Tsvetanov.

Recently, the Commission for Establishing and Preventing Conflict of Interests announced it has found that the former MP has committed a number of such conflicts.

In the aftermath, he informed he has left Bulgaria and was currently in another EU Member State.

Last week, the Prosecutor's Office summoned Dimitrov as well to interrogate him over information about election process breaches and attempts of vote buying.
