Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
There is an actual danger for the life and well-being of former Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov, according to the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutors made that clear as they explained why Naydenov was placed under a security watch.
Security guards were provided for Naydenov after his shocking revelation earlier on Thursday that former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov had been illegally snooping around and eavesdropping on all members of the center-right GERB Cabinet (2009-2013), along with President Rosen Plevneliev, possibly former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, and many other senior officials.
The former Agriculture Minister accused Tsvetanov of spying in order to blackmail everyone and eliminate all who would get closer to Borisov.
Naydenov was questioned by the Prosecutor's Office in the aftermath of his first interview ever since he was charged with corruption and was provided with special security guards, while the opposition, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, called on both Borisov and Tsvetanov to step down from politics.
Borisov declared on Thursday that he would not demand the resignation of Tsvetanov, who is currently the election campaign manager of GERB.
