Bulgaria's Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works will control the fulfillment of obligations of concessionaires and tenants of Black Sea beaches, wile district administrations will mostly be in charge of securing lifeguards and beach safety.

The optimization of control of the implementation of concessionaire obligations was agreed at a meeting between the Deputy Regional Development Minister Dobromir Simidchiev and Zhelyazko Zhelyazkov, Kosta Bazitov, and Konstantin Grebenarov, district governors of Dobrich, Varna, and Burgas, respectively, according to the press office of the Regional Development Ministry.

According to a media statement of the Regional Development Ministry, Bulgaria's beaches are a total of 193, of which 58 have been granted under concession, while 63 are operated under tenancy contracts.

A total of 32 of the tenancy contracts have been signed by the Regional Development Minister and 31 by the district governors of Dobrich, Varna and Burgas.

During the 2013 active tourist season, all of the most visited beaches will be operated by concessionaires or tenants, meaning that the fulfillment of all obligatory activities, including lifeguard service, has been secured, according to the media statement of the Regional Development Ministry.

A tender procedure has been opened for a concession agreement for the central beach in the Black Sea resort of Primorsko.

The acts regulating the status of exclusive state property of beaches are being updated, which is to help track traditionally unsupervised beaches and create conditions for signing concession or tenancy contracts for them during the 2014 summer season.

The media statement of the Regional Development Ministry reminds that the procedure for granting sea beaches under concession was substantially alleviated and shortened through recent amendments to the Black Sea Coast Development Act.
