A strike of personnel has forced largest German air carrier, Lufthansa, to cancel more than 1,650 flights Monday, with more cancellations looming for Tuesday.

Almost all internal German and European flights have been cancelled Monday, informs Deutsche Welle.

Lufthansa officers are striking in warning against the expansion of low-cost carrier Germanwings, a company owned by Lufthansa.

Monday's strike will affect many major international airports, such as those in Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Berlin.
