Home Tourists Small Minority in Top Bulgaria Ski Resort

Only 10% of tourists who visited this winter Bulgaria's top ski resort Bansko were Bulgarian, according to data by the local tourist buisness association.

The largest percentage of tourists was formed by vistors from Russia, followed by Bulgaria's neighbors, Greece, Serbia, Macedonia and Romania.

Local tourist chamber chair Yanka Rahova said that Bansko attracted visitors from western Europe for the possibilities it gives for alpine winter trekking and climbing.

The winter season is now officially over and prices in most hotels are at summer levels.

According to Rahova, the 2012-13 winter season has given roughly the same results as the previous one in terms of number of visitors, generating a little bit less revenue.
