The Gorda Bulgaria coalition led by eccentric MEP Slavi Binev opened its campaign for May 12 early elections in Bulgaria with a rally in downtown Sofia Saturday.

Hundreds of supporters assembled in front of of the Parliament building which houses Bulgaria's Central Electoral Commission to express their opposition to the rule of the former cabinet led by Boyko Borisov.

"If we go on sleeping, if retribution for fraudsters does not happen at these elections, then something between an October revolution and a civil war awaits us," said Binev in his speech.

The non-aligned MEP then proceded to play a number of illusionist tricks while on stage to show how political actors in Bulgaria allegedly "shed their skins", while remaining the same, and while at the same time "stripping people of their very shirts."

"You might say I'm playing a circus now, but this is the circus we all live in and that we now have to destroy," said Binev.

"We have fake news, fake opinion polls, a fake caretaker governent, a fake oposition. We have fake lives and priorities," was his diagnosis of the overall situation in Bulgaria.

Binev stated that the Gorda Bulgaria (Proud Bulgaria) coalition's driving aim is to radically change this situation and to free Bulgaria from being the poorest and probably most corrupt country in the EU.
