The formerly-ruling centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, will never enter a coalition with the socialists, the nationalists, and the ethnic Turkish party.

The statement was made Thursday by the former Deputy Prime Minster and Interior Minister in the GERB Cabinet, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, cited by the Focus news agency.

"GERB will run solo in the upcoming May 12 snap general elections as we have done it in the last six years," Tsvetanov declared.

He stated his party will appoint a government based on election results, and if these results would not allow a majority Cabinet, then GERB would seek support from other political formations for Bulgaria's good.

The former Minister ruled out any collaboration with the left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, the far-right, nationalist Ataka, and the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS.

When asked if a coalition with the right-wing Bulgaria for Citizens of former EU Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva, was on the table, Tsvetanov briefly replied: "Let's wait and see who will win seats in the Parliament."

The Cabinet of PM, Boyko Borisov, and his GERB party resigned on February 21 amidst huge protest rallies against poverty, stagnation, monopolies and political corruption.
