The Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association (BPVA) has insisted that Asen Vasilev, caretaker Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, come up with concrete information about alleged violations by solar energy companies.

In a Wednesday interview for the morning broadcast of Nova TV, Vasilev argued that photovoltaic plants had submitted information indicating that they produced electricity 32 hours a day.

The BPVA responded to the accusations with a media statement, asking Vasilev to cite concrete names of offenders and provide documents proving the violations.

The BPVA noted that violations in the energy sector had to be made public and be penalized by the competent state bodies.

The BPVA also called on the three power distributors operating in the country, CEZ, EVN, and Energo-Pro, to say when they had registered the violations reported by Vasilev, how they had referred the problem to the competent body, and the measures they had taken to prevent abuse.

The Association claimed that if the information they requested was not supplied, the statement of the caretaker Economy and Energy Minister could be interpreted as an attempt "to discredit the most transparent sector in the Bulgarian energy sector, the production of energy from renewable energy sources, which is carried out fully in line with European and Bulgarian legislation."

The BPVA emphasized that the publication of concrete information about the alleged violations would benefit the business climate in the country and society in general.

The Association also demanded that the data on the output of all types of electricity producers in Bulgaria be made public and accessible in real time.
