The Arena Armeets sports hall in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia has been “decorated” with massive campaign banners promoting the center-right GERB party.

The banners are boasting the party's name and election campaign motto "We Have the Will.”

As local media have observed, the banners are illegal, since election campaigning is not allowed before the official start of the campaign – April 12.

At the end of last week, GERB held its national conference in Arena Armeets.

Former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has boasted of the construction of Arena Armeets, the largest and most modern sports hall in Bulgaria, on numerous occasions.

Borisov and his government resigned amid massive anti-poverty protests in February, prompting President Rosen Plevneliev to adjourn the Parliament, appoint a caretaker Cabinet and schedule snap elections for May 12.
