Tsvetlin Yovchev, who resigned as Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev’s Chief of Staff on Tuesday, has reiterated that there were no political reasons behind his stepping down.

“There is nothing sensational in my resignation. The motives are personal,” Yovchev told reporters, as cited by the Standart daily.

He refused to elaborate on the “projects” he cited as a reason for his resignation on Tuesday.
“The projects are still in a very early phase. They are not connected with politics.”

Yovchev, who is a former head of Bulgaria’s National State Security Agency, became the first member of Plevneliev’s administration to resign since the President assumed office in 2012.
