Lyutvi Mestan, leader of Bulgaria’s ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms party, has ruled out the possibility of a single-party government being formed after the upcoming snap elections.
The formation of a single-party government would be an illusion for both the center-right GERB and the Bulgarian Socialist party, Mestan argues, referring to the two major parties in the country.
According to the ethnic Turkish leader, the parties declaring that they would not enter a coalition government are “insincere.”
Mestan told reporters that his party’s election campaign will be officially launched on April 13.
Borisov and his GERB Cabinet resigned on February 21 amidst massive protest rallies against poverty, stagnation and political corruption. Snap general elections will be held on May 12, just two months ahead of the regularly scheduled date. BSP and GERB are believed to be the main contenders, with polls giving the center-right party a slight advantage.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms will enter the next Parliament, according to the latest polls.
