A self-styled official petition has been launched and completed in the UK government e-petition website calling for 'privatization' of the funeral of late Margaret Thatcher.
The petition, available HERE, was closed October 2012 and has been signed by 33,814 people.
"In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders," write petitioners.
"The undersigned believe that the legacy of the former PM deserves nothing less and that offering this unique opportunity is an ideal way to cut government expense and further prove the merits of liberalized economics Baroness Thatcher spearheaded."
UK premier 1979-90, Thatcher became famous with, among other things, an ambitious and extensive privatization program and a stauch advocacy for limiting the role of the state in the economy.
The UK e-petition government site hosts a number of other petitions pro and contra a state funeral for Margaret Thatcher, but the above petition has gathered by far the most signatures.
