A Russian and a Ukrainian will Fight for Bulgaria
A Russian and a Ukrainian have officially received permission from the International Wrestling Federation (UWW) and will represent Bulgaria
Five-time world female wrestling champion Stanka Zlateva, who temporarily retired from wrestling at the end of last year, has reportedly made up her mind and will enter the political arena.
Zlateva will run at number three on the ticket of the formerly ruling center-right GERB party of Boyko Borisov in the city of Sliven, Southeastern Bulgaria, where she is particularly popular and enjoys high chances of entering the parliament.
The five-time world and European champion rivals Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov as the country's most prominent star.
The legendary wrestler will be running in this region, since she was born in the nearby village of Krushare.
Stanka Zlateva, 30, has not announced officially her decision, but according to media reports she has conclusively decided to drop the curtain down on her sports career.
Zlateva was extremely disappointed with her 72 kilograms freestyle silver medal at the Olympic Games in August, as she was tipped to win the gold.
Touched by her tears of sadness and repentance, hundreds of Bulgarians gave Zlateva loud and wholehearted acclaim as she landed at Sofia airport in August 2012.
Zlateva, who failed to redeem herself for the disappointment she suffered four years ago in Beijing and settled for silver again, this time in London, was silent and crest-fallen, but the crowd exploded with joy once she appeared at the terminal, her coach Simeon Shterev close by.
Now Bulgaria's strongest lady hopes to make a significant contribution to the country's sports sector in her role of member of parliament, media reports say.
Bulgarians will head to the polls to vote in snap elections on May 12.
